In dit onderzoek wordt gefocust op de mogelijke bijdrage van vrijwilligers die op thuisbezoek komen. In Vlaanderen zijn het vooral de vrijwilligers van Ziekenzorg CM die één-op-één contacten hebben met kankerpatiënten in hun thuissituatie. Via een literatuurstudie, kwalitatief en kwantitatief onderzoek probeert men een antwoord op enkele onderzoeksvragen te formuleren. Via een aantal focusgroepen werden thuisverpleegkundigen, huisartsen en vrijwilligers bevraagd.

Cancer may impact negatively on an informal caregiver's health long after treatment has ended. This review identifies the self-report measures currently in use to measure caregivers need for support and determines their scientific soundness and clinical utility.

Depression in men diagnosed with prostate cancer is associated with several adverse outcomes. However, some data suggest that standard methods of assessing depression in males via the criteria for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) may omit several extra key symptoms of male depression. Therefore, this study tested the comparative effects of standard MDD-based diagnostic criteria for depression and criteria for ‘male depression’ in a sample of men diagnosed with prostate cancer.
