Objectives: This study aimed to examine (1) subgroups of cancer patients with distinct co-morbidity patterns of depression, anxiety and fatigue; (2) how individuals transitioned between these patterns; and (3) whether socio-demographic, clinical and psychological care characteristics distinguished patients’ transitions.
Objective: Informal caregivers (ICs) of patients with cancer and cancer survivors report a number of psychological and physical complaints because of the burden associated with providing care. Given the documented effect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) on ICs’ common psychological complaints, such as anxiety and depression, the objective was to conduct a meta-analysis on the effect of CBTs for adult ICs.
De jaarindex geeft een overzicht van lopend en actueel wetenschappelijk onderzoek in de psychosociale oncologie, en draagt bij aan het doel van de NVPO om de zichtbaarheid van psychosociaal oncologisch onderzoek te vergroten, de translatie van kennis te stimuleren en de implementatie van onderzoeksresultaten in de praktijk aan te moedigen. Deze vierde editie bevat 112 lopende onderzoeksprojecten die het afgelopen jaar zijn afgerond, gecontinueerd dan wel opgestart.

Fear of a breast cancer recurrence is the most prevalent and disruptive source of distress for long-term survivors and their partners. However, few studies have focused on predictors of fear of recurrence. The aim of this study is to test the efficacy of the Social Cognitive Processing Theory (SCPT) in predicting fear of recurrence in long-term breast cancer survivors diagnosed at age 45 years or younger and their partners.

Health-promoting behaviors are recommended to childhood cancer survivors (CCS) to reduce late effects resulting from cancer treatment. Understanding factors associated with substance use is needed, especially among Hispanic CCS who are underrepresented in previous studies. The objective of this study is to examine substance use behaviors of recently treated Hispanic and non-Hispanic CCS.
Op het IPOS congres in Dublin dit jaar waren tal van interessante onderzoeksprojecten met een verscheidenheid aan topics vanuit verschillende landen vertegenwoordigd.
Op het Internationaal Psycho-Oncologie Congres van 2016 (IPOS) werden een heel aantal onderzoeksprojecten voorgesteld van over de hele wereld met betrekking tot de psychosociale oncologie. Ook het CHi stelde haar onderzoek over de professionele levenskwaliteit bij Vlaamse zorgverleners in de oncologie voor.
